Capoeira is a martial art form developed in Brazil by enslaved Africans. Unlike any other martial art, the participant is always in constant motion, learning specific movements of defense and offense, such as kicks, sweeps, escapes, and multi-level acrobatics, all while maintaining rhythm with the various percussion instruments that set the tone of style and expression in the game. Capoeira combines elements of combat, movement, dance, acrobatics, music, language, and culture.
